Paris Orly (IATA: ORY, ICAO: LFPO) is the second airport of Paris, roughly 18 km south of the city — closer than Charles de Gaulle, which sits 27 km to the north-east.
Its four terminals are physically connected. Nothing at Orly is more than 15 minutes' walk from anything else, and the Orlyval train between the airport stations is free. It is, in practice, a far simpler airport than CDG.
How Orly is laid out
Orly was reorganised into four numbered terminals, replacing the old Orly Sud and Orly Ouest names. The four are interconnected under one continuous roof since the connecting building opened in 2019, which is the single biggest practical difference with Charles de Gaulle: at Orly you can walk between terminals.
Orly 1
Part of the former West terminal, with finger-style concourses. Together with Orly 2 it accounts for 23 gates. It is the furthest point from Orly 4 — about fifteen minutes on foot.
Orly 2
The other half of the former West terminal, adjoining Orly 1 and sharing its concourse layout.
Orly 3
The connecting building, opened in 2019. It is what joins the western terminals to the southern one under a single roof, and it is the reason Orly no longer requires a shuttle to change terminals on foot.
Orly 4
The former South terminal: a six-floor building housing gates E and F, along with most of the airport's shops and restaurants.
The Orlyval train
An automated train serving two stations at the airport — Orly 1-2-3 and Orly 4 — plus the onward link towards Antony on RER line B. Travel between the two airport stations is free, and it takes about a minute. Trains run every 5 to 7.5 minutes.
The distinction matters: the inter-terminal hop is free, the journey out to Antony is not.
The free shuttle bus
A free bus links all four terminals, the car parks, the Ibis hotel and the police station, every 10 to 20 minutes from 04:30 to 00:30. It is the option to remember outside Orlyval hours or with heavy luggage.

Orly compared with CDG
Orly is 18 km from central Paris against 27 km for Charles de Gaulle, and its four terminals are connected on foot where CDG's seven halls are not. A connection that would need 90 minutes at CDG is generally comfortable in half that at Orly.
The trade-off is on the road: Orly sits south of the city, so a transfer to the north or east of Paris crosses the whole capital, and the peak-hour penalty is heavier than the distance suggests.
